Pictured (L-R) Campbell Mason, Tricia Wilson, Gill Dreyer, Ann Strutt, Linda Maidment and Gary MomberJane Scarth House, Indigo, Two Saints, The Lisa Wilson Scholarship Fund and the Hampshire & Wight Trust for Maritime Archaeology are the five charities to benefit from donations totalling £35,000 by DP World Southampton.

The donations will help Jane Scarth House continue to offer their free services to people whose lives have been affected by cancer; Indigo to continue their valuable work in helping women who are survivors of abuse within childhood, adolescence or who have experienced violence and Two Saints to support people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

The Lisa Wilson Scholarship Fund will put their donation towards supporting young people with the cost of higher education at Southampton Solent University and The Hampshire and Wight Trust for Maritime Archaeology will use the money to continue their aims in promoting interest, research and knowledge of maritime archaeology and heritage.

DP World Southampton placed an order for nine Noell straddle carriers last year and in February this year placed an order for two new super post-panamax quayside gantry cranes with Liebherr Container Cranes.  As part of the procurement process and in conjunction with Liebherr Container Cranes and Noell, DP World Southampton will be donating funds to all five worthwhile charities.

Talking about the donation, Campbell Mason, Managing Director, DP World Southampton, said:

“We have purchased this new equipment to ensure that we, as a terminal operator, are able to service our customer base as efficiently as possible.  It is particularly pleasing to know that at the same time we are able to offer donations that will help these charities carry on with the vital work they do in our local community for the benefit of people in need.
