DP World Southampton Team of Ladies Support Race for Life

Dawn, Laura, Sam, Issy, Shauna, Elly, Lynsey and AlexOn Sunday 13 July 2008, a team of eight ladies from DP World Southampton took part in the ‘Race for Life’ on Southampton Common.  The team was made up of eight ladies who work at the container terminal as well as some fellow female family and friends.

The race is the single largest female race in the UK and is held every year to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK.  All team members have been in training over the last couple of months to ensure they are able to walk, jog or run the 5km course.

The overall target of the team was to raise £1,000 and to help with the fundraising efforts, DP World Southampton donated £500 to the teams’ fundraising pot with the current total tracking at over £1,800.

Talking about the race, Lynsey Haynes, Marketing & Communications Manager, DP World Southampton, said:

“It was great to take part as a team with all members aiming for the same goal of raising as much money as we can for Cancer Research UK.  I think nearly everyone has been touched by cancer in some way and so being able to run or walk a few kilometres to help raise funds for such a worthwhile cause was the least we could do.  A big thank you to everyone who has donated money to the team.”
