Hats Off to the Old SCT Brand

School children in Sierra Leone pictured with the hatsFollowing the terminal’s rebranding to DP World Southampton in July 2008, a number of promotional items have been found in the depths of the Stores Department which no longer have a use.  Such items included a few hundred SCT branded baseball caps.

Rather than just dispose of the caps, it was decided to try and find a good home for them where they would be used.  The terminal’s Training Manager, Steve Ware, has a link to a charitable organisation known as Waterloo Schools.  The charity set up by his step-father in 2005 to build and fund a school in the small township of Waterloo, Sierra Leone.

Talking about the charity and the donation, Steve said:

“It’s been great that the school has been able to benefit from something that is no longer needed by the company.  Charities such as the waterloo Schools Charity rely heavily on the generosity of companies such as DP World Southampton and I would like to thank the company on the charity’s behalf.”
