The container (NYKU 8210 506) which has been branded with the famous BBC logo will travel around the world for 12 months carrying a variety of cargo for a variety of customers.  The first leg of the journey saw the box move from Southampton to Greenock via rail, loaded with Scotch whisky and then brought back to Southampton via feeder vessel.  The box then finally left the UK on 25 September for its first international leg to Shanghai.

“In welcoming the BBC to film in and around the terminal, we have been able to show to a very large and diverse audience just how a container terminal operates and our role in the wider supply chain of international trade.  The project has sparked a lot of interest around the world and has contributed to raising awareness of the critically important role which containerised cargo transport plays in enabling global trade."
