DP World Southampton Takes Part in Beachwatch 2008

On Saturday 20 September 2008 a group of willing volunteers from DP World Southampton and their families donned their wellington boots and took to the shores of Goatee Beach, Eling, Southampton to not only clean up the beach but also to record the types of litter being picked up.

DP World Southampton employees cleaning Goatee Beach, Eling, SouthamptonDP World Southampton adopted Goatee Beach back in July and going forward has committed to periodically clean up and survey the beach.  The clean ups will provide useful data to the Marine & Conservation Society to help them identify trends in rubbish finding its way onto our beaches.

Talking about Beachwatch, Hans Clemens, Environment Coordinator, DP World Southampton, said:

“It has been great to be able to get involved in Beachwatch 2008, we found more rubbish than we were expecting, a total of 18 large black bags, so it will be interesting to see what the Marine & Conservation Society make of our findings.”
