In partnership with Sholing Valleys Study Centre and Southampton City Council, more than 50 volunteers from DP World Southampton and the local community donned their wellington boots, picked up shovels and planted 10 full size trees and 420 hedging plants on Sunday 22 February 2009.

Talking about the project, Dave Mills, Environmental Coordinator,
DP World Southampton, said:

“It was great to see so many willing volunteers take part in this extremely worthwhile community project.  The project has not only enabled the company to offset its carbon emissions and business travel but will also help sustain the Miller’s Pond wildlife area for years to come and the enjoyment of many future generations who visit the area.”

DP World Southampton employeesChris Fry, Chairman, Sholing Valleys Study Centre added:

“We are delighted to see support for this project from not only our members but the employees of DP World Southampton.  Sholing Valleys Study Centre and the Miller’s Pond area offers groups, schools and individuals an opportunity to find out about the natural environment as well as participate in projects such as this one.”
