DP World Southampton Welcomes New Managing Director

Chris Lewis, Managing Director, DP World Southampton

DP World Southampton is pleased to welcome
Chris Lewis as the terminal’s new Managing Director.

Involved in the ports and shipping industry for more than 25 years, Chris was the former CEO of Hutchison Ports in the United Kingdom with overall responsibility for port activities and developments inside and outside the gates.

Talking about his new role – Chris Lewis, DP World Southampton Managing Director, said:  “Southampton is the second largest container port in the UK and there is much to be proud of here, with its strategic location, high standards of service and efficient turnarounds, coupled with robust management systems.

“The terminal’s new breed of super-post panamax container cranes also represents DP World’s commitment to customers by delivering a highly efficient service through the enhancement of operational capability and technology.

“I appreciate the container port industry in the UK has had a difficult two years, caused by the global economic downturn, but we must all look ahead positively so we are well placed to benefit from the upturn when it comes.

“Employees at DP World Southampton have an important role to play in making the terminal the first choice of shipping lines and I look forward to working with them and management colleagues on how we can further enhance productivity to underline our international competitiveness.”
