OOCL London Makes her Debut at DP World Southampton

 

Representatives from OOCL, DP World Southampton and Associated British Ports pictured with the Captain and crew of the OOCL LondonFriday 14 May 2010 saw the arrival of the OOCL London, the latest addition to the OOCL fleet.  The vessel is one of OOCL’s SX Class vessels, weighing 89,097 gross tonnes with a capacity to carry 8,063 TEU.  The vessel will be deployed on the Loop C service and will be a regular caller at Southampton.

The vessel arrived at the terminal at 1220hrs, exchanged 1914 boxes during her visit and departed on Saturday 15 May at 1400hrs destined for Rotterdam.  During her visit the traditional plaque ceremony took place with representatives from OOCL, DP World Southampton and Associated Ports.

Talking at the plaque ceremony, Aart Hille Ris Lambers, Business Development Manager, DP World Southampton said: 

“It is always a privilege to personally welcome new vessels, their captain and crew to the terminal.  The plaque presentation is an important tradition – it’s good to know that a little bit of Southampton remains with the ship whilst she is travelling around the world.”
